The Renton Minimum Wage will increase to $20.29 an hour for large employers, and $18.29 for mid-size employers. Employers subject to these higher minimum wages must also offer additional hours of work to qualified part-timers before hiring new employees or subcontractors including temp agencies. Read more at the City of Renton’s website here.

The Tukwila Minimum Wage will increase to $19.29 an hour for mid-size employers, and remain $20.29 and hour for large employers. Read more at the City of Tukwila's website here.

Safety Standards for Warehouse Workers: Warehouse workers will have new protections from unfair work quotas that disrupt people’s ability to take their full paid rest breaks of at least 10 minutes for every 4 hours worked including travel time to the breakroom. Quotas will also have to be described to employees (not secret) and employers must allow enough time to complete the work subject to the quota safely. See the new workers' rights and safety rules on the Labor and Industries website.

We will be updating the Washington State Workers Rights Manual at rightsatworkwa.org when the laws go into effect next week. Aware of other changes or additions you'd like to see to the manual? Contact Alex Bacon at alex.bacon@seattlecolleges.edu
