The Georgetown Campus of South Seattle Community College , located in the heart of an economic growth zone in Seattle, is committed to developing and expanding the skills of a growing workforce. The Center is a collaboration between business, labor, industry and education. South Seattle Community College's Georgetown Campus currently houses training for over 25 apprenticeship programs.

- The Puget Sound Industrial Excellence Center supports a strategic objective of the Seattle community Colleges: to support workforce training and apprenticeship opportunities that meet high-demand occupation needs, and to create new and expanded services for businesses in the Duwamish corridor.

- The Apprenticeship and Education Center supports more than 2,000 apprentices from over 25 different trades attend classes weekdays, evenings and Saturdays at the Georgetown Campus of South Seattle Community College.
The Campus is currently co-operating with the Joint Apprenticeship Committees to provide related and supporting courses for apprentices and journey workers.

The Safety Training Institute is a broad-based coalition of labor, business and public entities are establishing a state-of-the-art Safety Training Center. The Center is housed at the Georgetown Campus of South Seattle Community College, which is located in the heart of the economic hub of Western Washington. The location is ideal for addressing the safety needs of construction, transportation and manufacturing because the primary apprenticeship programs for these trades are located at or near the Georgetown site. There is a high concentration of businesses in the area and a supportive institutional structure for building the center.

The Georgetown Campus of South Seattle Community College, in partnership with Cascade Healthcare Services and the American Heart Association, will conduct Industrial First Aid & Safety courses: Heartsaver First Aid/AED with CPR certification and American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) Emergency Care and Safety Institute Bloodborne Pathogens. This course gives you the skills you need to be prepared for an emergency -- and save a life!

In the Flagging Certification Program the flagger must, through visual movements and appearance, establish authority and confidence so traffic responds in time and consistently with the need to stop, change lanes, proceed more slowly, or maneuver as necessary around the work site.
The trained flagger is the key factor in establishing proper warning and traffic control to assure workers' safety and to see that traffic moves cautiously and consistently through the work zone. |
