Worker Education and Union Trainings
The Labor Center can provide training on a wide variety of topics, some of which are described here. We can design “nuts and bolts” classes that focus on some of the more technical aspects of union development, or offer bigger picture labor education, looking at the broader issues (like economics) that effect working people, within unions or not. Regardless, we take an ‘organizing approach,’ seeing unions and other worker-centered organizations as part of a broad labor movement. We can also consult with you about developing your own internal education programming, helping with curriculum design, etc. If we can’t provide the service ourselves, we may be able to help you find the resources you need. In all cases the trainings we offer can range in length depending on the needs of the union/organization we are working with and can be scheduled at the time and place of your convenience. We can offer a single class that runs for a few hours or up to several days. We can also offer a class scheduled over a longer period of time, for instance, one evening a week for six weeks. We charge either hourly or daily for preparation and training, plus expenses. All charges are agreed upon in advance. Feel free to contact us with inquires about classes on any of the topics here, or others areas that may not be specifically listed here.
